U.S. DOL Releases New Information On FMLA

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has recently released a new “Employer’s Guide to the Family and Medical Leave Act,” more commonly known as FMLA. This is the department’s user friendly manual to help employers find the answers to common questions regarding FMLA regulations. However, many complex problems that arise from FMLA will not be addressed in this guide. To learn more about FMLA and how comply visit the Ohio Chamber’s HR Academy website for the latest information.

The DOL has also released new poster for use in the workplace. Under FMLA regulations, an FMLA-covered employer must post a copy of the general FMLA notice in each location where it employs workers. If your business already has an FMLA poster displayed, you do not need a new poster. However, the newer version is more user friendly.

For reference, all public employers and private employers that have at least 50 employees, both full and part-time, are regulated under the FMLA.
