Recently, the Ohio Chamber signed onto a letter with the US Chamber supporting the US House of Representative’s efforts to encourage immigration reform. This letter reflects the business community’s favorable view of the immigration principles that the House has put forward, including border security, employment verification, and overhaul of the US visa system, among other reforms.
We agree that our immigration system must be modernized for the demands of the 21st century, particularly those of businesses that need more skilled and talented workers and those seeking a legal pathway to citizenship. A dysfunctional immigration system hampers the strength of Ohio’s economic vitality, often denying our state skilled foreign workers and immigrant entrepreneurs that add to our economy. The Ohio Chamber urges Congress and the president to work together to fix this broken system.
