Last week Dan Navin, Assistant Vice President, Tax and Economic Policy, took on a crucial topic for Ohio employers: Common Core standards. Along with the US Chamber and many other businesses organizations and owners, the Ohio Chamber believes that learning standards prepare Ohio students for college and career, which in turn helps employers fill empty positions with well qualified, work-ready employees. Contrary to popular belief, Ohio’s New Learning Standards do not take curriculum planning away from local school districts, but set guidelines to help ensure that all of Ohio’s students receive quality education that prepares them for their next step in life; joining Ohio’s workforce or seeking higher education.
