Over 800 state and local tax leaders, officials, analysts and practitioners are expected to convene in Columbus in less than 10 days for the 24th Annual Ohio Tax Conference, a two-day event sponsored by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers’ Education Council. The two-day conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency Columbus and feature speakers such as Ohio Tax Commissioner Joe Testa, U.S. Chamber Tax Policy Director Caroline Harris, noted University of Connecticut law Professor Richard Pomp, and Nationwide Insurance Company Chief Economist David Berson.
The conference will also have five general sessions including separate sessions focusing on recent state tax developments and what might happen in Congress in 2015. Additionally, there will be 40 interactive breakout sessions on various topics ranging from a discussion of House Bill 5, legislation providing uniformity and reform of Ohio’s municipal tax system, to what businesses must do to ensure successful sales tax compliance and audit defense.
Finally, the conference will be the forum for again inducting a person into the Ohio Tax Hall of Fame. This year’s honoree is Kiehner Johnson, formerly the long-time chairman of the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals.
