Last week, we previewed In-Demand Jobs Week, which is taking place May 7-11th and serves as a statewide celebration of jobs, industries, and skills that are in-demand in our state. This week, we want to take a look at what are some of those jobs and how employers and job seekers can take advantage of this upcoming week.
Currently, there are 236 in-demand occupations across the state of Ohio. These occupations are defined as ones that provide a sustainable wage and a promising future based on the projected number of openings and growth. Additionally, they vary greatly in terms of level of education needed, on-the-job-training, and relevant work experience.
However, there is one common thread for all employers and that is they need qualified workers to fill these vacancies.
OhioMeansJobs has put together an easy-to-use search engine to help job seekers navigate occupations that are in-demand. Additionally, the In-Demand Jobs Report allows for the ability to sort jobs based on the factors listed above, such as minimum education level necessary or starting wage. Based on job openings, there is a major need for registered nurses here in our state. That’s not the only need from employers in Ohio as there are openings for truck drivers, welders, carpenters, and electricians, just to name a few.
The entire website itself is very user friendly and is helpful for job seekers to locate events during the week and for employers to see what is going on in their region and join efforts with other employers to promote their companies and openings within their business.
In-Demand Jobs Week in Ohio serves to promote those openings in an attempt to link qualified applicants with employers who have a need. There will be events all throughout the state and should be an exciting time for job seekers and employers alike.
