Today marks the beginning on In-Demand Jobs Week here in Ohio! In-Demand Jobs Week is the statewide celebration of the jobs, industries and skills that are in-demand in Ohio. Community leaders statewide are encouraged to partner in planning engaging virtual events and activities that will inspire excitement and awareness among students and job seekers.
This year, this week of celebration and in-person events will look a little bit different with many of the events being held virtually. However, the emphasis on workforce development and attraction and retention of top talent remains. As employers, workforce is a major concern and being able to fill open positions is an issue. The COVID-19 pandemic has only brought this issue even more to the forefront.
There will be many opportunities to participate and get involved, whether you are an employer, student or job seeker. The Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation has led the way with this initiative and promotion of In-Demand Jobs Week. Initiatives such as the In-Demand Jobs Week are the perfect way to promote job openings and attract qualified individuals who have the ability to fill those vacancies.
This year, they will be highlighting all of Ohio’s top jobs – both in-demand and critical. Over the course of the first full week in May, Ohioans seeking jobs in occupations that fit these criteria can learn more about the qualifications and potential certifications necessary.
