Our member, Russ Gottemoeller of Continental Express, Inc. in Sidney, OH had the privilege of attending the State of the Union address at the invitation of Congressman Jim Jordan. Mr. Gottemoeller had traveled to Washington D.C. many times over the past 20 years of his career and even sat through a few Congressional sessions. However, this was his first time attending the State of the Union address. He said that this event was different than any of his past experiences in D.C. The D.C. area was very busy, and everyone seemed to generally be in good spirits.

Prior to the SOTU, Mr. Gottemoeller met with Congressman Jordan for dinner. After dinner, they went to the Capitol where members of Congress and staff were buzzing about. The house chamber was packed full of people. He shared that the chemistry of the room was very relaxed. People were taking pictures and socializing with other members of Congress until President Trump entered the room. Mr. Gottemoeller enjoyed hearing the President’s address. To top off the evening, he got to watch President Trump exit the Capitol with his impressive motorcade as he headed back to the White House.
